Checkout Dem Graphics, Yo!

One notable game that has come out recently, has been praised for it’s incredible graphics. I’d have to agree it’s by far one of the best display of graphics the iPhone has yet to see. I was personally floored when I first began playing the game. The frame rate is smooth, the details are well polished and the over all controls work fantastically for a mobile game. What game was I so impressed with? You’ve heard of it, it’s called 2XL Supercross(iTunes link). For example, check out level one:

Notice the crisp, sharp colors. It’s hard to say here, because it looks SO much better on the iPhone/iPod touch screen. You rarely see such a beautiful display of colors coming from most applications found in iTunes. However, I did notice a bit of a slow down around a turn in one of the early arenas.

Mmmm...MMM!!

Mmmm...MMM!!

See what I’m talking about? If you’ll look closer at the bottom of the screen, you’ll see where things slow down a bit. The beginning of the race starts of amazingly, with such long, smooth flowing tracks and then when you least expect it, you see some curves that you don’t find in many other racing titles. I’m not arguing though, every gamer loves to see some nice, rounded curves in a game. My one and ONLY complaint for this game is that there’s no story mode. You’re given a series of races that unlock different race tracks but the AI of the other racers can be tense at times, making the game fun to come back to. This particular racer distracted me before the race even STARTED?!!:

How RUDE?!

How RUDE?!

Can you BELIEVE it?!! Right as I was about to get into some good ol’ dirt bike racing, this schmuck totally blew my mind and made me think of doing something else. The nerve of some racers…but then again, we all love a good challenge. The eight dollar asking price is a little much, but the graphics and over all polish of this title make it a purchase for your’s truly. I’m really hoping the developer adds some more incentives to the game (a story mode, secret characters, maybe a “create your own track” feature) but I’m VERY impressed with the graphics (seriously, this game looks awesome on your device. I show it to friends for bragging rights).
