Ode to Cobb
The only thing I remember from high school is that the girls were hot…now they’re fat and ugly and I feel bad for lusting after them in the halls between classes. Another thing I learned came from a coach that taught my Economics class (”taught” is a real stretch here…how about, “read from an economics book out loud to a classroom full of kids that weren’t paying attention”). The one thing he said that has stuck with me ever since my school days was:
“Don’t believe anything you hear, and only half of what you see“
I’m sure he didn’t come up with it. The guy was nice but not that smart. My guess is he heard someone yelling it at a homeless man on his way to work and decided to share it with us. Or maybe his wife told him one afternoon when he came home and she was half naked with the pool boy. I don’t know. But the reason I share this with you is so that you can apply it to my posts. I guess another expression would be to “take it with a grain of salt”. Which would be good advice for all those fat classmates of mine too.
