Spooning Jarvis

Alright…the title of this post has NOTHING to do with an app I’d like to talk about. But it ties in with a previous post so if you’ve been reading along properly, you understand. Moving on: Where I live, you can’t find much of anything when it comes to restaurants. You know where the locals eat but they’re all “touristy” and not that great. Around the block I have a wonderful Mexican food place called Taco Bell that serves delicious burritos but they’re not what you’d call “gourmet” (less you piss off the girl at the Drive Thru then you REALLY don’t know what special ingredients it has ;) ). While in Austin, I decided to try the UrbanSpoon application that we’ve all seen in recent iPhone commercials.

Jackpot!

Jackpot!

It worked as advertised. You shake it, then it automatically finds restaurants located in your city. You either accept what you’ve been told, or shake it again until you see a place you find suiting. This worked WONDERFULLY for me because (let the hate mail roll) I’m a vegetarian. I (unintelligently) deemed Austin, Texas to be the BBQ capital of the state. I had NO IDEA that there were so many great “vegetarian friendly” places to eat.

Try this place!!

Try this place!!

I was sorely wrong. In fact, I’ve written a letter of apology to the city of Austin. I hope it accepts it. It also came in handy when my brother and friends all coudn’t decide where to eat. This works great when you’re with a group of indecisive people and for that alone, I’d recommend it. Unfortunately, I can’t say it’s that super. The city I currently live in is not supported by UrbanSpoon. As of this writing, I do believe they are hard at work trying to cover all the locations they can. But for now, I just do donuts in the middle of stoplights with my car, letting the front end decide which drive thru to go to. McDonalds…Wendy’s…Taco Bell…Burger King…McDonald’s…Wendy’s….ahh!! Taco Bell!! Let’s see if that dumbass can get my order right THIS time…

AppAttack :D
