Quick Look: Guitar Rock Tour

OK…this review is for those late night people with a (drunken?) itchy “click” finger. I haven’t had time to really get into the game of Guitar Rock Tour to give it my full review. So far, the game is VERY much like Guitar Hero. You can play solo songs (Quick Play) or start a tour and move up from there. A few songs are readily available, the rest you must unlock through stage progression. It has animated backgrounds, a full guitar fret board (correct me if I’m wrong here…I don’t play guitar), plus the “get the crowd going” note playing. If you like Guitar Hero, you’ll love this game. It really is a clone of the GH series. The songs (from my understanding) are not the actual singers of the song, but sound very similar. (I had to listen twice to Heart Shaped Box). If you own an iPod Touch, I would personally wait until they have an Update that addresses the non compatibility issue. The load times are a little long for my taste and I could see an incoming phone call being annoying as hell if someone interrupts you. My girlfriend called while I was rocking Kurt’s amazing ode to Courtney and it pissed me off because once I ignored her (SHHHH!!!) the game continued but the sound was gone. Also, $10 dollars is a lot to be asking for a game. Yes, I was a sucka, but I really enjoy Guitar Hero so I HAD to fall victim. I see this game hitting the $4.99 in the future but for now, I’m sure it’ll stay at the 10 range. Don’t get me wrong…it’s an incredibly well made game that many GH fans will be glad to dish out their cash for. There’s just a few issues that need to be addressed before you decide to make this purchase, IMO. But chances are, if you’ve been drinking tonight you didn’t get this far in my review and are now rocking your roommate’s ears off with a little Hurricane tune’edge. Rock on my friend, rock on…

AppAttack :D For now…

UPDATE: I currently have taken this off of my phone. It crashes too damn much plus I don’t like getting phone calls while playing. I’m going to put it on my Touch if they ever release an update for it. If this ever happens, expect a full review from your’s truly.
