Comic books

I’ve always enjoyed comic books. During my early years I loved Calvin and Hobbes and then once puberty arrived in all it’s vengeful wrath (and hatred for what I called, my “face” back in the day) I turned to the darker comics like Spawn. Almost all of Image’s characters were great come to think of it…except for ShadowHawk. I didn’t like him. I LOVED Deathblow. He had potential. Wonderful artwork too…anyone remember him?!! So anyways, now the iPhone has the ability to read comic books thanks to a company called UClick (there is a pun intended in how I highlighted their name…if YOU “click” it, it will take you to the AppStore. I can be so clever at times…). I really enjoy the way this works out. The potential to bring A LOT of comics to the iPhone is now vast and wide.

The controls are simple, the screen is a great size and the books are just long enough that you don’t feel like you wasted a whole dollar. One time during a family vacation we stopped to buy a comic book in a very small town. Fortunately, this town had a Walmart. Walmart is a huge store where you can find almost anything you want. From food to videogames to shirts to candy to…it’s just endless possibilities (kidding). So I grab a book and my Dad argued that 2 dollars was too much to spend on a comic book so I didn’t get it. And I’m sure I pouted the entire trip. The book was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Back when I was a kid, the TMNT gang was a fun loving, pizza eating, “California” speaking happy group of turtles. Shredder was the evil enemy and Splinter was a rat highly developed in martial arts. This is right before they blew up into mass popularity. I don’t remember them ever being like this:

But maybe I’m just not as hip as I thought I was? I liked this book but I was disappointed it wasn’t like the ones I had as a child. I’m sure they’ll come. This company has a bright future ahead of them and I look forward to seeing future comics. The entire Calvin & Hobbes books would be amazing. And who wouldn’t want to see the OLD Garfield? Where he’s like 500 pounds? Keep’em coming UClick!!!
