Weekly Reader

If you’ve been here since Day 1 (or maybe you found this site by accident and spent the evening reading all of these posts…loser) you understand what my intentions here are. There’s plenty of other great websites out there that offer in depth reviews and have a fresh batch waiting for you each time you visit. Here, it’s a little bit different. I’ve always wanted to share with you applications I’ve found in iTunes that I enjoy in hopes that you’ll like them too. Just one friend to another, simply showing you something you may or may not have seen. But like the majority of people with no self control, I’ve spent about every dime I have on applications and am practically broke (-starting at the 6 minute mark you’ll understand my reference here). It’s too easy to go ape shit in iTunes with the hourly plethora of new applications they release if you don’t have the will to say no. In order to save some cash for lap dances and my crazed addiction to Laffy Taffy, I’ve kept the wallet closed these last few days. But I have found an application that’s free (somewhat) that has helped me curb my appetite for daily downloading…

The Barnes & Noble eReader (iTunes) application is my favorite eBook reader that I’ve come across so far. I’ve tried the other ones but the books they have to offer seem limited. Maybe I don’t look hard enough or maybe you’re an asshole for saying such a thing, but it’s my opinion and I’m sticking with it. The majority of the reviews you’ll read in iTunes claims that the books are “too expensive”. Seriously? I use to have a Treo 650 and yes, there were a nice handful of cheap books but all the new ones (or good ones) were expensive. I didn’t bitch about it because I was able to carry a book with me at all times in my pocket. One other lowlife dipshit bastard of a child complained about the “line at the bottom” you see on each page. Probably because his mother didn’t love him enough, he’s some pompous asshole dumbass that hasn’t figured out that “line” shows you how far along in the book you are. Maybe he couldn’t read past the Table of Contents? Idiot. (OK, I don’t know why I went off like that…it just seemed like fun). Anyways, I think it’s a great ereader with a nice selection of books. One book I haven’t been able to put down is “Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs“. I can’t believe I haven’t heard of this author before. A friend of mine recommended the book and I can’t stop reading it. Check it out.

Without Philip

Wayyy back in the day I told you about my friend Philip. He’s had a long love affair with the comic strip Garfield ever since he stopped breast feeding…wait, that was Monday, let me try again. My friend Philip has had a long love affair with Garfield ever since he stopped wearing diapers. Dammit. Nevermind….forget I said anything. Anyways, some of you may be hip to Garfield Minus Garfield, some of you may not (but technically I just told you about it and if you went to the link I provided there’s no possible way that you’re no longer hip to it). Some guy got clever and took Garfield out of the comic, leaving John all by himself, alone with his depressing thoughts.

I came across Garfield Minus Garfield (iTunes) and thought, “dammit, that is one expensive application”. And I’m still thinking that as I tell you about it, BUT if you’re a fan of the website then I think you’d appreciate this app as well. The fun part is you can throw Garfield back in the strip to see what he’s saying. So if you’re a fan of Garfield or a fan of John, you’ll be content. If you’re not a fan of either, Philip will put a pube in your mailbox. I don’t know why he does it, but I’m sick of it.

Ghost Whisperer

I may have told you this before but I’m too lazy to reread my posts…plus I have a terrible memory. That’s why I constantly tell my girlfriend her new haircut looks awful…I don’t remember if I told her the first time. She thinks I’m mean.

Holy Bible

I can’t make any of my usual comments regarding this app but I can tell you a funny story. Read on if you’d like to hear.

Attention Developers!

If you have created an iPhone Application and would like me to review it, please send me an email. I’ll gladly buy your App and give it a review. The ONLY expense you’ll pay is my honest review :) . (Or, if you’d like for me to give you personal feedback via private emails, I will be glad to do so as well). I downloaded the SDK myself, in hopes of developing the App of my dreams and it all went down the crapper. I understand how hard programming can be so I’ll be nice.

Comic books

I’ve always enjoyed comic books. During my early years I loved Calvin and Hobbes and then once puberty arrived in all it’s vengeful wrath (and hatred for what I called, my “face” back in the day) I turned to the darker comics like Spawn. Almost all of Image’s characters were great come to think of it…except for ShadowHawk. I didn’t like him. I LOVED Deathblow. He had potential. Wonderful artwork too…anyone remember him?!! (more…)
